The best tofu in San Francisco?? This cozy little restaurant in the Castro really took me back to Japan š„¹ They specialize in fresh house made tofu that is so soft and silky and will change the way you think about tofu! We tried all 3 different preparations they offer and each dish was unique in its own way. They also serve other Japanese dishes like sushi, donburi, udon, and a variety of appetizers. The fresh strawberry mochi is a must-have as well! š Itās a small restaurant and they donāt take reservations, so come early or be prepared to wait a bit, but trust me itās worth it! What we tried: ⢠Ankimo (monkfish liver) ⢠Bitter melon & mackerel ⢠Cold tofu ⢠Ankake tofu (steamed tofu served with a thick starchy dashi sauce) ⢠Oboro tofu (fresh and warm silken tofu curd) ⢠Eggplant with walnuts & miso ⢠Sea bream nigiri ⢠Rainbow roll ⢠Rockān roll (unagi, avocado, cucumber) ⢠Unagi don ⢠Purple sweet potato yokan with vanilla ice cream ⢠Ichigo daifuku (fresh strawberry mochi - limited to 1 per person) āļø Save this to your food list and follow @wendan.vs.world for more SF hidden gems! šEiji, 317 Sanchez Street, San Francisco, CA . . . #wendaneats #wendaneatssf #sfeats #sffood #sffoodie #sfrestaurants #bayareafoodie #bayareaeats #sffoodblogger #castrosf #inthecastro #japanesefood San Francisco hidden gems, Japanese food in SF, best SF restaurants
