This really applies to any job, but I find it especially common among physicians and dentists to have a big part of your self-worth and identity be tied to your title. I know how hard it can be to let go of that when you’ve worked your whole life towards the goal of becoming a Dr, and the journey is all-consuming. When medical/dental school takes up your entire life and there’s little room for anything else. Yes, you can take pride in making it and getting that title/degree, but you’re more than that. And the sooner you realize it, and that your job is just a job, even if that job is being a doctor, the happier you will be.
