marinaexplores_ — Glenfinnan Viaduct

I travelled to Scotland for a childhood dream I genuinely planned around months in advance… only to find out the night before that the “Hogwarts Express” I came for wasn’t running. The Jacobite Steam Train (the one that crosses Glenfinnan Viaduct) is currently not operating for the 2026 season due to ongoing safety and regulatory issues around its vintage carriages and door systems. The operator is still in discussions with regulators, so while it hasn’t been permanently scrapped, the start of the season is uncertain and heavily delayed. I had already booked my flights thinking everything was confirmed, only to discover last minute that the train wasn’t running at all. I still went to Glenfinnan anyway, walked up to the viewpoint from Glenfinnan Viaduct & Monument Car and Coach Park and watched the viaduct in real life… just without the train. I still went anyway and made it to Glenfinnan Viaduct & Monument Car and Coach Park, parked up, paid around £5, and did the 20-minute easy walk up to the viewpoint (follow the main trail and the crowd, you can’t really miss it). No train… but still one of the most iconic views in Scotland. Save this if you’re planning it and follow for more travel content! #jacobitetrain #glenfinnanviaduct #harrypotterscotland
