getlostwithliam — Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu

It may be one of the 7 Wonders of the World but it won’t be open forever! Talk to any guide at this sacred Inca citadel and they’ll tell you that this site is starting to suffer from too many tourists. Various sections have already been closed and the circuit systems gets more restrictive and complicated every year. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid to visit this magical place, but I don’t think I quite realised how hard the “easy” option to get here would be. Honestly, if I got the chance to do it again I would 100% just do either the Inca Trail or the Salkantay Trek. While they technically take longer, the views and entire experience are incredible!
