10 things nobody tells you about solo travel that I wish I knew sooner! 1. Just book the flight and figure everything out later. — I literally booked a round-trip flight to Korea without even having a visa yet 😭 Sometimes you just have to do it scared! 2. Table for one isn’t as scary as you think. — You’ll get used to eating alone FAST. Tbh, nobody actually cares that you’re alone. 3. Taking tripod photos alone isn’t embarrassing at all. — Everyone does it! And you can always ask a stranger to take your photo. They usually don’t mind. 4. You’re in charge of EVERYTHING and it’s freeing. — When to wake up, where to eat, how much to shop, where to go, when to go home. No compromises. 5. You WILL get lost. That’s part of it! — Wrong train, wrong exit, wrong direction. You’ll figure it out. Solo travel teaches you how to problem-solve >> 6. There’s always a way back to your hotel. — Train, bus, taxi, ride-hailing app, or asking for directions. Don’t let the fear of getting stranded stop you <3 7. You’ll become weirdly proud of saying, “I’m from the Philippines.” — And suddenly you’re recommending Philippine destinations to someone you met 5 mins ago!! 8. Trust your intuition.
— If a person, place, or situation feels off, leave. You don’t owe anyone politeness over your safety!!! 9. The hardest part isn’t the navigation or carrying your luggage. It’s having no one beside you to immediately tell your intrusive thoughts to!! 🤣 10. Never post your location in real time. — Post after you leave and share your itinerary only after you’ve ticked that day off.
