LOCATION ⬇️ Tell the person you'd take here that it's time to plan a trip ✨️ ⛈️ Check the forecast - no low-lying clouds and wind speeds less than 5m/s are essential for the best views. 🅿️ Park at the end of Mangorei Road (or get a shuttle!) and walk up Mangorei Track 🥾 About 5-6 hours round trip, following a well-maintained boardwalk all the way up the mountain (and it’s not too steep, surprisingly!). Be careful if going up in winter, as the boardwalks can get icy and snow may be present. 📍 Pouākai Tarns Pro tip: stay at the Pouākai Hut for a night or two as it’s only a 15-minute walk from the tarns!
