wheresjessieb — McEvoy Ranch

Need an idea for a wine tasting alternative? Enter: Olive oil. I spent years driving and biking by @mcevoyranch just outside of Petaluma before I finally visited—and now it’s one of my favorite places to take friends for a foodie day trip from San Francisco. They make amazing olive oils from the olives grown on property, which you can taste while enjoying the views. We skipped the tour this time around and just had the olive oil and cheese tasting, but (having done it before!) it’s a really great way to learn how olive oil is made and finally solve mysteries like... what is extra virgin olive oil, anyways? If you visit, don’t forget to save time to swing by their shop where you can pick up bottles of their olive oils and a whole range of surprisingly great beauty products—some of them are even on Oprah’s favorite things list 😉 HOW TO VISIT: ✦ Location: Petaluma, about an hour from SF and on the way to Point Reyes/Tomales Bay ✦ Open daily, 10am–5pm ✦ Can do olive oil tastings or grab lunch (they have a kitchen!) ✦ Tours of the property + production facility also offered ✦ Walk-ins welcome, reservations recommended on weekends. ✦ Can’t make it out yet? Shop their products online. They make great gifts 😉 ⭐ Share this with someone you’d like eat cheese and olive oil with for n a pretty place 👉 Follow @wheresjessieb for more off-the-beaten-path + foodie San Francisco day trip ideas #jessiebinpetaluma #oliveoil #californiaoliveoil #visitcalifornia
