5 life pieces advice I would give anyone who’s dreaming about moving to New York *based on my own story of moving to New York in my 20s and figuring it out on my own* [1.] don’t wait until you feel ready. you probably won’t. most of the important decisions here start a little too early, a little uncertain and that’s exactly why they work. The most precious thing you have in life is time, so don’t waste it doubting and “getting ready” for something you won’t ever fully be. [2.] your first version of life here won’t be your final one. first apartment, first routine, first circle, it all shifts, it’s all temporary. give yourself permission to grow into the city, not get it right immediately. [3.] money matters but how you spend your energy matters more. you energy becomes your greatest asset. you can figure out budgets, side jobs, apartments. what’s harder is protecting your time, your focus, and your direction. [4.] being here changes you faster than you expect. your standards, your pace, your mindset, it all upgrades just from being surrounded by people who are building something. [5.] the dream doesn’t feel like a dream every day. some days are just long, ordinary, a little overwhelming. but then there are moments, maybe, small, quiet ones but where you realize you’re living something you once only imagined. if you’re thinking about it, this isn’t your sign to romanticize it. it’s your sign to take yourself seriously enough to try. follow along for building life in your 20s in New York @alice_odessa
