I spent a total of four months in Bali and what i’ve seen is honestly heartbreaking. There’s such a visible gap between locals and foreigners.. resorts and villas popping up everywhere, prices inflating, and whole areas being reshaped for tourism while local life gets pushed aside. Gili T is already destroyed. Now they’re building a lift in nusa penida. A LIFT!!! In one of the most beautiful natural places I’ve ever seen. This isn’t development, it’s just another form of colonialism dressed up as “travel.” Bali is not our home. It’s not a playground for us to consume. People live here, and their culture and land are being changed forever. I don’t have the answers, but I do think we need to stop pretending over-tourism has no consequences. I also know I am part of the problem and I would love to be a more ethical and conscious creator. Any tips are welcome. What do you think? Is it possible to love a place and also travel responsibly without contributing to its destruction? #bali #indonesia #nusapenida #gilitrawangan #balilife #balitravel #travelresponsibly #overtourism #ethicaltravel #travelcommunity #mindfultravel #culturalrespect #sustainabletravel #backpackinglife #islandlife #worldtraveler #digitalnomad
