I spent 2 days in Petra and these are no doubt the 3 things you can’t do when visiting: 1. Starting too late in the day. Why? The heat becomes intense by midday, and it gets crowded. Go at opening time (around 6am) for shade, photos, and peace. 2: Wearing the wrong shoes. 🫠 Petra is HUGE. Expect 15k–20k steps. Uneven terrain, stairs, dust. Wear proper trainers or hiking shoes — not sandals or flip-flops and definitely not heels! 3. Skipping the Monastery. Many people stop at the Treasury and turn back. Big mistake! The Monastery is even more jaw-dropping — yes, it’s 850 steps, but fewer crowds and epic views. Don’t miss it!
