Seoul finally has a public museum dedicated to new media art, but this is not your usual “go for everything” museum. So Seoul Museum of Art is in Geumcheon-gu, in the southwest of Seoul, and right now it feels more like a soft opening than a full museum day. There is one main exhibition, NEM Topos, where the museum’s own building process becomes part of the artwork: cables, frames, screens, structure, and unfinished details included. The architecture is part of the reason to go. The building sits low and open beside the park, designed to feel connected to the neighborhood instead of separated from it. My honest take: go if you are into media art, architecture, or Seoul’s newer cultural spaces. If you want a big museum day with many exhibitions, wait until more opens. How to go from Seoul Station: Take Subway Line 1 from Seoul Station to Geumcheon-gu Office Station 금천구청역, then use Exit 1. The museum is a short walk from there.
