Check your fuel—there are no stations along the highway! 📸 Stop at the top of Pohokura Saddle, a scenic lookout with sweeping valley views. A great place to stretch your legs. 🍽️ Whangamōmona – The Republic! Stop for lunch at the Whangamōmona Hotel and get your passport stamped. 🕳️ Check out the hand-carved Moki Tunnel, you can pull over here and get out to have a look. See if you can spot the Hobbit Hole sign! 🌉 Take a short detour to the Bridge to Somewhere, a historic bridge surrounded by native bush (and relative of the Bridge to Nowhere in Whanganui!) 🌊 Swing by the Mt Damper Falls, a 20-minute walk to one of the North Island’s highest waterfalls. 🍛 Finish with a meal in Taumarunui before heading back or continuing your adventure.
