chrisbg — Tōfuku-ji Temple

Established in the 13th century, Tofuku-ji is one of Kyoto’s five great Zen temples and home to Japan’s oldest wooden Sanmon Gate. It’s world-famous for the view from Tsutenkyo Bridge, which overlooks a valley of over 2,000 maple trees — a must-see in mid to late November. The temple grounds include four carefully designed Zen gardens, blending raked gravel, moss, and stone to express harmony and balance. Easily accessible from Tofukuji Station (JR or Keihan Line), it’s best visited early morning or on weekdays to avoid peak crowds. #Tofukuji #KyotoTemples #FallFoliageJapan #VisitKyoto
