Sonoma’s apple season is happening right now... Sebastopol has been growing Gravenstein apples since long before Sonoma (county, duh) was known for wine, and this time of year the whole area leans into it. About an hour north of San Francisco, it’s an easy day trip that swaps grapes for orchards without giving up the wine country charm. We went up this past weekend + here’s what I’d recommend for a perfect, apple-filled outing: 🍎 FOODIE DAY TRIP: SEBASTAPOL STOP 1: @goldridgeorganicfarms ✦ Distance: ~1 hour north of San Francisco ✦ Stop for: U-Pick apples, straight off the tree ✦ When: Upcoming U-Pick Saturdays are Sept 5, 12, 26, and Oct 3 (weather + apple supply permitting). reserve ahead. $8 for adults, plus $4 per pound of apples ✦ Tip: Their farm store is open Fridays + Saturdays outside of U-Pick days. STOP 2: @thebarlow707 ✦ Distance: 12 minutes from Gold Ridge ✦ Stop for: An open-air market district with a rotating lineup of local shops and restaurants ✦ Eat: I like @fernbar.sebastopol for garden-to-glass cocktails, or the new @thewildpoppycafe if you want to stay on theme and order the apple french toast. You can also order pizza from Acre and enjoy it in the open air park or at one of the breweries. STOP 3: @horseandplow ✦ Distance: 10 minutes from The Barlow ✦ Stop for: Local ciders made from Sebastopol-grown apples ✦ Tip: They also have wine and some small snacks ⭐ Save this for your fall-filled day trip from San Francisco 👉 Follow @wheresjessieb for more Northern California day trips worth the drive.
