This is how my husband and I give each other gifts during Christmas when our main priority is saving money to travel. My love language is gift giving and I will go overboard even when I know our goal is to save money on traveling and I am also one of those people who likes opening something on Christmas. So we borrowed the “4 gift from Santa” idea and made it into our own: 1. Something to drink. This is usually a nice bottle of our favorite adult beverage. Something we wouldn’t go buy to drink every day. Cost this is usually between $30-$60 each. 2. Something to read. It’s a book. Something we thought the other would enjoy reading. $15-$20 each 3. Something I need is a replacement item 99.9% or the time. Something we were probably going to have to spend money replacing or fixing anyway. Think shoes, a winter jacket, etc. The cost here can range but usually is around $100. 4. Something I want. This is a fun gift. Something that is just enjoyable or a new hobby. This obviously has the largest range but we end up around $75-$100 These really help us keep our budget in check, still do Christmas gifts and enjoy the holiday!
