rcee_xandrahrain — Yuen Long

If you are planning to capture that “Matcha” look of Kai Kung Leng, timing is the key: 🌱The “Matcha Crepe” Effect: Hikers often point out that the way the trails and natural ridges cut into the hillsides looks like the layers of a matcha mille-crepe cake. ✅ Summer/Monsoon Season: This is when the mountain is at its most vibrant green. However, be careful—this trail is notoriously exposed with zero shade, making it very hot and physically demanding in the summer. ❄️ Winter: The “matcha” dries out and turns a golden brown, which is beautiful in its own right (often called “Golden Ridge”) but loses that bright green tea aesthetic. Its Chinese name 雞公嶺 translates to “Mountain of Chicken” or more elegantly “Rooster Ridge”, it is located in Lam Tsuen Country Park and nestled between Yuen Long and Sheng Shui in the New Territories. How to get there? - Get off at the Yuen Long MTR station, exit E to access the bus stop below and find the stop for the green minibus 603. - Ride the minibus to Fung Kat Heung Road and get off at the turn after the recycling point. The trail begins on the left side of the road near the stairs. #hongkong #hike #mountain
