: Your Ultimate Road Trip Guide to Lake Tahoe! If you’re planning a road trip from SF or NYC, @kyte is a game-changer for car rentals! Unlike traditional car rental services, they deliver the car right to your doorstep or you can pick it up from their convenient locations (like Mission Street in San Francisco). Just upload your picture and driver’s license via their app and on the day of your trip, just grab the keys and hit the road—no paperwork needed! For our weekend trip to Lake Tahoe, we rented an AWD car, and the entire process was smooth and hassle-free. Road Trip Tips for Snowy Destinations Like Lake Tahoe- 1. Snow Driving Essentials If it’s your first time driving on snowy roads (like it was for us), pack these must-haves: Snow chains, Windshield scraper, Hand tools and Shovel. We got ours from Walmart, but Amazon is a convenient option too. 2. Choose the Right Route If you’re a nervous driver, stick to Highway I-80. It’s a straight, well-maintained road without steep curves or narrow sections, unlike Highway 50, which is also known as “The Loneliest Road in the USA.” 3. Be Ready for Sudden Snowfall Snow chains are only required during active snowfall, but the weather can change quickly. There are snow chain checkpoints along the highway, so always carry a set, even if the forecast looks clear. (We didn’t need ours, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!) 4. Emergency Kit Pack an emergency kit with extra snacks, water, throw blankets, Hand warmers, etc. These can be lifesavers if you get stuck in a snowstorm or blizzard. 5. Waterproof Shoes Snow will find a way into your shoes no matter what! Wear snow boots or waterproof shoes and carry an extra pair for backup. Trust me, cold, wet feet can ruin the fun fast. 6. Plan for the Unexpected Fill up your gas tank and download your driving map/route, especially if you’re driving during bad weather as the internet connection can get choppy. What did I miss?
