: Just when we thought Hallstatt was unbeatable, we found THIS gem only 30 minutes away. We drove up to Gosausee, a glacial alpine lake in the Dachstein mountains- a crystal-clear lake that perfectly reflects the Dachstein glacier and surrounding peaks — it honestly looked like a painting. We arrived just in time for sunset dinner at Gasthof Gosausee, a cozy mountain inn right by the water. Watching the last golden light fall over the lake while enjoying hearty Austrian food was one of those moments I’m going to remember forever.🍷 Afterwards, we walked the portion of 4 km trail around the lake (about an hour, flat and easy), and every corner gave us another postcard view — from mirrored reflections to alpine meadows and dense forests. 📍 Gosausee quick guide: 🚗 Just 30 min drive from Hallstatt (parking available by the lake). 🥾 Loop hike around Vorderer Gosausee: ~1 hr, family-friendly. 🍴 Gasthof Gosausee: perfect for meals with a view. ⛰️ For more adventure: hike 2 hrs further to Hinterer Gosausee, a wilder and quieter lake.
