rapunzelexplores — Hawk Hill

10 hidden & unique things to do in San Francisco! Think you know San Francisco? Think again. Beyond the classic tourist stops, this city is full of incredible hidden gems, scenic viewpoints, cozy corners, and local-approved spots that make you fall in love with SF all over again. Save this for your next trip. Start with Hawk Hill, one of my favorite hikes for panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay. If you’re a coffee lover, grab a drink at Equator Coffee with one of the best bridge views in the city. For iconic Golden Gate photos without the crowds, head to Marshall Beach or Baker Beach. For hidden gems, don’t miss Umbrella Alley, the whimsical free gondola ride to Salesforce Park, or Ina Coolbrith Park, a tiny hillside park with some of the prettiest city views. If you love coastal hikes, Lands End is always a must. A few more unique favorites: wander through the historic Mechanics’ Library, climb the colorful 16th Avenue Tiled Steps, and end the day at Presidio Tunnel Tops for a sunset picnic with bridge views. It’s one of my favorite places in the city to slow down and take it all in. A few SF tips that always help: go early for fewer crowds and beautiful light, wear comfortable shoes because those hills are no joke, bring a jacket even on sunny days, and never leave valuables in your car. San Francisco has so much more to offer than the usual checklist spots, and these are some of the places that make this city feel so magical to me.
